Setting up your PPC with a free Microsoft Exchange server

Browsing through aximsite a couple of weeks ago I found topic about a free exchange server service, mail2web.com. I signed up, entered my details into active sync, and then thought I would use for a back up incase I ever crashed my PDA and PC in one go. The next day, I read that you can sync emails to the account too, so here is what I did;

  1. Set up forwarding on gmail so all email goes to username@mail2web.com (Settings > Forwarding and POP)
  2. Set up forwarding on all my other accounts to the same mail2web address (Should be in your Cpanel/Direcadmin panel/Helm/Plesk etc.)
  3. Sent a test email to each account making sure that mail2web receives them all
  4. In active sync, unchecked the Email box under Windows PC and then clicked the Email box under Exchange server

And thats it, just sync with your PPC to to the exchange server to receive your email now.

I used a the service www.mail2web.com which is free but supported by ads, you can pay a monthly fee for more functions but the basics are in there.
